Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in hardware or test engineering, with 8 years of experience managing engineering teams.
  • Experience defining test strategies, authoring test plans, and leading cross-functional teams through engineering programs.
  • Experience in manufacturing environments, including developing and integrating test solutions using custom electronics, fixturing, and instrumentation.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in the design, validation, and manufacturing test of server and networking infrastructure, or Cloud infrastructure products.
  • Knowledge of NPI test station bring-up and validation methodologies, including Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (R&R), correlation studies, and statistical process control.
  • Understanding of the Linux operating systems, with experience in software development or scripting (e.g., Python, Shell) for test automation.
  • Ability to translate product specifications into comprehensive test strategies and plans, ensuring execution and adherence to quality standards.
  • Ability to lead root cause analysis for complex manufacturing issues, collaborating effectively across engineering teams to drive solutions.

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you evaluate the product designs and create the processes, tools and procedures behind Google's powerful search technology. When vendors build parts for our infrastructure, you're right there alongside ensuring manufacturing processes are repeatable and controlled. You collaborate with Commodity Managers and Design Engineers to determine Google's infrastructure needs and product specifications. Your work ensures the various pieces of Google's infrastructure fit together perfectly and keep our systems humming along smoothly for a seamless user experience.

Through your leadership, you leverage your technical expertise to design and analyze products and related data, develop and improve manufacturing and supportive processes, and provide consultation to vendors, manufacturers, and internal teams. You lead complex projects to completion by managing resources and activities along the way.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and mentor a high-performing team of Test Engineers dedicated to Google Cloud infrastructure, fostering a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the development and deployment of robust test solutions for products, working in close collaboration with Google's global manufacturing partners.
  • Define comprehensive test requirements and leverage DFT expertise to ensure optimal testability and manufacturability of hardware. Advocate the integration of AI/ML tools and technologies to revolutionize test efficiency, expand coverage, and enhance bug detection capabilities.
  • Drive operational strategies to optimize test processes, increasing coverage and reducing costs while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams. Communicate effectively with leadership and stakeholders, providing timely updates on test status, risk assessments, and product quality.
  • Attract, develop, and retain engineering talent, building a resilient team capability for the future.
