Applications are invited for appointment asTenure-Track Clinical Professor in Breast Surgery in the Department of Surgery, School of Clinical Medicine(Ref.:537372), to commence as soon as possible, on a four-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second four-year fixed-term contract. Exceptionally outstanding candidates may be considered for appointment on tenure terms.
Applicants should possess a specialist qualification registrable with the Medical Council of Hong Kong, a higher professional qualification of Specialty Fellowship in Surgery of The College of Surgeons of Hong Kong or equivalent, and other relevant higher academic qualifications (e.g., MD, MS, PhD). They should be specialized surgeons of seniority, with demonstrated clinical excellence in the broad field of Breast Surgery. They should also have a distinguished and sustained record of high-quality impactful research, as indicated by publications and competitive grants and have achieved international recognition for scholarship and professional expertise. In addition, applicants should have a strong commitment to, and evidence of, excellence in teaching, curriculum development, capacity building, mentoring early career researchers and supervision at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Preference will be given to those with demonstrated administrative leadership and management experience in universities or healthcare settings. Direct communication with patients is required and the languages employed are Cantonese, Putonghua and English.
The appointee will take up a key role in achieving the highest standard of quality in all aspects of teaching, research, clinical service and administration of the Department fostering academic collaboration within and outside the Faculty/University as well as pursuing new strategic directions for the further development of the Department, Faculty and University. In addition, he/she may be required to assist in the development of the HKU-Shenzhen Hospital, and travelling to Shenzhen may therefore be necessary. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. A monthly cash allowance will be offered to the successful candidate. Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
