Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Technical Manager to lead shipyard technical and engineering operations, ensuring safe, efficient completion of ship repair, maintenance, and dry-docking projects in compliance with industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Manage planning, execution, and completion of ship repair, maintenance, conversion, and dry-docking projects to meet client and regulatory requirements
- Lead and supervise engineers, supervisors, and technical personnel to achieve project objectives and maintain team performance
- Coordinate with clients, classification societies, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure timely and smooth project delivery
- Monitor and control project schedules, budgets, quality standards, and resource allocation to optimize outcomes
- Ensure compliance with Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) regulations, environmental standards, and company policies throughout project lifecycle
- Provide technical guidance and resolve engineering issues promptly during project execution to maintain quality and safety
- Prepare detailed technical reports, project documentation, cost estimates, and progress updates for stakeholders
- Support tender preparation by providing accurate technical input to enhance business development opportunities
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase operational efficiency and service quality within the shipyard
Required competencies and certifications
- Degree or Diploma in a relevant discipline
- Minimum 5-8 years of relevant experience in marine, shipbuilding, or ship repair industry
- Proven experience managing shipyard operations and leading technical teams
- Strong knowledge of marine engineering systems, ship repair processes, and classification society requirements
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and project management tools
- Valid Singapore Class 3 Driving Licence
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Experience working in Singapore shipyards
- Knowledge of ISO Quality Management Systems and Workplace Safety & Health (WSH) requirements
