Job Objectives
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tax Advisory Specialist to elevate our Wealth Planning proposition for our UHNW/HNW clients in Taiwan. This role is crucial for providing expert tax planning and advisory services, optimizing tax efficiency for client portfolios and structures, and ensuring compliance with all applicable tax laws. The specialist will collaborate closely with relationship managers, legal advisors, and other investment and insurance product specialists to develop and implement sophisticated strategies that support wealth preservation, growth, and intergenerational transfer for our UHNW/HNW clients.
Roles & Responsibilities
1.Tax Planning and Advisory for Wealth Management
- Provide specialized tax advice on wealth planning strategies, including income tax, capital gains tax, estate tax, and gift/inheritance tax considerations.
- Develop and implement tax-efficient investment strategies, and conduct comprehensive tax reviews of client financial situations, identifying opportunities for tax optimization and risk mitigation.
- Advise on the tax implications of various wealth management products, such as trusts, insurance, and investment vehicles, in the Taiwanese context.
- Stay updated on local and international tax regulations and reforms, providing proactive insights and recommendations to clients and internal teams.
2.Client and Internal Collaboration
- Partner with relationship managers and legal advisors to integrate tax planning into holistic wealth management solutions for UHNW/HNW clients.
- Prepare detailed tax analysis, reports, and presentations to support RM.
- Liaise with external tax professionals as required to ensure accurate and compliant tax filings and advice.
3.Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure all tax advice and planning strategies comply with Taiwanese tax laws and regulations, as well as relevant international tax treaties and anti-avoidance rules.
- Monitor changes in tax legislation and regulatory guidance, assessing their impact on wealth planning strategies and communicating these to relevant parties.
- Assist in establishing and maintaining robust internal controls and processes to ensure tax compliance in all wealth management activities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master's degree in Taxation is preferred.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is required.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in tax advisory or tax planning roles, with a strong focus on high-net-worth individuals and wealth management, preferably within a financial institution, a family office, or a Big Four accounting firm.
- Proven experience in Taiwanese tax regulations and cross-border tax considerations is essential.
- In-depth knowledge of Taiwanese income tax, estate tax, gift tax, and other relevant tax laws and regulations, including international tax principles applicable to wealth management.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret complex tax laws and financial data, developing optimal tax strategies.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex tax matters clearly and persuasively to clients and colleagues.
- Strong ability to understand client needs and provide tailored, practical tax solutions that align with their overall wealth goals.
- Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy and compliance in all tax advisory services.
