Job Description

SHL (Scandinavian Health Ltd) is currently the world's largest privately-owned designer, developer and manufacturer of advanced drug delivery systems. The organization was established in 1989 by Swedish entrepreneurs Roger Samuelsson and Martin Jelf with the goal of combining world-class manufacturing in Asia with the strengths of Western Management practices. SHL manufactures devices including pen injectors, auto injectors and inhaler systems. We also manufacture a range of other products including pressure mattress systems, patient lifting slings, medical soft goods, beds, neurosurgical devices, catheters and industrial equipment.

JOB OVERVIEW / PURPOSE

The Sustainability Business Partner (Taiwan) will play a critical role in aligning global sustainability roadmaps with local site execution, ensuring that corporate ESG strategies are effectively integrated into the manufacturing site's operations. Reporting to Global Sustainability, this role serves as the key liaison between global sustainability teams and site leadership, overseeing the development, implementation, and monitoring of sustainability action plans tailored to the site's needs. The Business Partner will collaborate across functionsincluding operations, engineering, EHS, and supply chainto drive continuous improvement, sustainability transformation, and compliance with regulatory and corporate sustainability commitments.

This position requires a strategic mindset and hands-on leadership to embed sustainability into operational excellence processes, engage key stakeholders (including national-level agencies, customers, and suppliers), and oversee performance measurement and reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sustainability, manufacturing operations, and continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen).

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Sustainability Strategy Integration

  • Act as a strategic partner between Global Sustainability and the manufacturing site, ensuring alignment with company-wide ESG goals.
  • Translate and align global sustainability roadmaps with local roadmaps, ensuring site-specific strategies are developed and executed in line with corporate sustainability objectives.
  • Oversee the implementation of sustainability initiatives, ensuring effective integration into the site's operational strategies, investment decisions, and daily processes.
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, EHS, supply chain, and other relevant functions to develop, implement, and monitor site-level sustainability action/plans aligned with corporate sustainability strategy.

Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence

  • Partner with relevant functions to embed sustainability into continuous improvement and operational excellence processes (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies).
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of carbon footprint reduction, energy efficiency, and waste minimization programs, ensuring alignment with global sustainability objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and innovation to enhance resource efficiency and environmental performance.

Stakeholder Engagement & Advocacy

  • Liaise with national-level stakeholders, including government agencies, industry bodies, and sustainability organizations, to align with regulatory and industry sustainability initiatives.
  • Serve as a sustainability representative for customers, suppliers, and visitors, ensuring alignment between site sustainability efforts and stakeholder expectations.
  • Partner with site leadership to foster a strong sustainability culture, engaging employees at all levels through training, awareness programs, and internal communications.
  • Actively communicate site-level sustainability progress to corporate sustainability teams, ensuring transparency and best practice sharing across the organization.

Governance & Organizational Development

  • Support the design and implementation of the site's sustainability governance structure, clearly defining roles, responsibilities, and reporting frameworks.
  • Ensure local sustainability action plans are effectively governed and monitored, with clear ownership across functions.
  • Work closely with operational leaders to embed sustainability criteria into CAPEX investment decisions, process improvements, and long-term planning.
  • Establish mechanisms to track and review site sustainability performance, ensuring continuous alignment with corporate sustainability strategy.

Performance Measurement & Reporting

  • Analyze and track key sustainability performance indicators (KPIs) to assess site progress against local and global sustainability targets.
  • Ensure site-level sustainability initiatives are effectively measured, reported, and continuously improved, in alignment with corporate sustainability reporting frameworks.
  • Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to site leadership and global sustainability teams, ensuring alignment and accountability.
  • Monitor the execution of local sustainability roadmaps (owned by site teams), identifying risks, opportunities, and areas requiring corrective actions.

Professional Experience & Specific Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing operations, sustainability, or environmental management.
  • Proven experience managing sustainability roadmaps and action plans, with the ability to translate strategic objectives into operational execution.
  • Ability to identify and implement resource efficiency, emissions reduction, and operational optimization initiatives within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with experience working across global and local teams.

Desirable (nice to have)

  • Understanding of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies and how they can be leveraged for sustainability improvements.

Relevant Qualification/education and training

Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
