Job Description

The applicant must possess
  1. a recognised degree, preferably in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Fire Engineering or related disciplines
  2. holds a construction related electrical and mechanical Tradesman Qualification holds a valid Grade A, as minimum, Registered Electrical Worker license
  3. experience with design in electrical or fire services is preferrable.
  4. a minimum10 years relevant industry and/or training experience in Electrical and Mechanical disciplines
  5. a sound knowledge of E&M systems, construction industry practices and statutory requirements
  6. a proven experience in supervising technical staff and managing training programmes
  7. experience in vocational education or skills training is an advantage
  8. good communication, organisational and interpersonal skills
  9. proficiency in MS Office applications and digital learning technologies including the use of AI applications in teaching and training and
  10. skilled in using drawing tools, such as BIM or AutoCAD for drafting is advantage.

Duties Include
  1. supervise and manage instructing staff
  2. lead, plan, coordinate and monitor the delivery of full-time and part-time programmes of Building Services trades
  3. ensure training programmes are conducted in compliance with HKIC policies, academic regulations, quality assurance requirements and accreditation standards
  4. support programme accreditation, validation and quality audits
  5. support the development of new programmes and enhancement of existing curricula in response to qualification frameworks mechanism, technological and industry developments
  6. review and update training materials, workshop exercises, assessments and learning resources to ensure industry relevance
  7. develop training schedules, teaching plans, assessment strategies and resource allocation plans
  8. review and plan to procure, replace and upgrade of training equipment and facilities
  9. oversee inventory control and asset management of workshop resources
  10. ensure all training activities and facilities are properly maintained and operated in compliance with in-house safety requirements and current safety legislation
  11. manage workshops, tools, equipment and training facilities in good and safe order to meet institution satisfaction
  12. promote and demonstrate strong safety culture among staff and students
  13. assist to conduct safety inspections, risk assessments and accident investigations when necessary. Ensure proper implementation of safe practices within workshops and training environments.
  14. coordinate and manage training / trade testing of relevant trades
  15. conduct and design training / trade testing the training material / trade testing questions
  16. support student recruitment activities, programme promotion events, open days and career guidance initiatives
  17. establish and maintain close liaison with industry stakeholders, contractors, professional institutions and government departments
  18. exhibits sound judgement, upholding integrity and high ethical standards in all activities
  19. maintain accurate records and all necessary documentation and
  20. to carry out any other duties as assigned by the Executive Director from time to time.
