Job Description

Established in 1987 and headquartered in Taiwan, TSMC pioneered the pure-play foundry business model with an exclusive focus on manufacturing its customers products. As of 2024, TSMC serves more than 500 customers and manufactures over 11,000 products for high-performance computing, smartphones, the Internet of Things (IoT), automotive, and digital consumer electronics. It is the world's largest provider of logic ICs, with an annual capacity of 16 million 12-inch equivalent wafers. TSMC operates fabs in Taiwan as well as manufacturing subsidiaries in Washington State, Japan and China, and the Company began construction on a specialty technology fab in Dresden, Germany, in 2024. In Arizona, TSMC is building three fabs, with the first starting 4nm production in 2025, the second by 2028, and the third by the end of the decade.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Keep the semiconductor scaling by turning innovative ideas into reality.

2. Investigate PPA optimization standard cell circuit / layout / architecture.

3. Define and implement a standard cell characterization methodology for leading-edge technology.

4. To engage with EDA tool vendors enabling new characterization features and resolve production issues.

5. Develop a best-in-class library production & validation flow to provide high quality and throughput support to customer.

Job Qualifications:

1. Ph. D or Master degree in EE or CS.

2. Good in digital design field and strong familiarity with digital logic and microelectronics theory.

3. 8+ years of experience in digital circuit design, modeling, analysis, and verification.

4. Familiar with process design kits (Spice Model, Virtuoso, etc.), running transistor level simulation, and able to use scripting languages like Python for automation.

5. To be familiar with library characterization methodology, design kits format/application, static timing/power, and/or EMIR cell-based IC design flow.

6. Proficient in English for effective communication with EDA/customers.

7. Communication skill is crucial to help customer realize their envision.

8. Possess clear logic, excellent learning curve, and facing unknown challenge.
