Description and Requirements
- Responsibilities include designing printed circuit board layouts, structural sheet metal enclosures, plastic part, and waterloop designs in our next generation servers.
- You will work with architects to close on a design concept, then develop and validate the design.
- Candidate must be capable of creating designs, evaluating other team member's designs, and solving design bugs when they arise.
- Candidate must be able to work in a close team environment, interacting with the thermal, power, system, and extended team members, to achieve a design, which meets the business and marketing requirements.
- In addition, this candidate will be responsible for contributing to common building block designs used across our portfolio.
- Technical skills required include three dimensional computer design engineering skills, including sheet metal and plastic part design.
- Candidate must have a minimum of 10+ years experience using the PTC Creo CAD tool and PTC Windchill for CAD data file management.
- Candidate must have a minimum of 7+ years experience in mechanical design.
- 5+ years in server mechanical design experience is preferred
- Skills to manage engineering changes, bill of material creation, cost estimating and tolerance analysis is required.
- Knowledge of server industry standards and compliance industry standards is expected. Hands on experience with assembling and testing servers, and using basic mechanical tools is a plus.
- A BSME degree is required.
- Non-technical skills required for this position include strong communication skills for negotiating design details that support the product marketing requirements.
- Strong written skills are required to document mechanical specifications for the product, and reports of test results.
- This candidate must have an understanding of marketing requirements, and the ability to implement them into robust, cost effective designs.
- This position requires ability to interact effectively with suppliers, and to advise and delegate design deliverables.
- Creative thinking, problem-solving capability, leadership skills, and teaming skills are also required.
