Role Summary

We are seeking a Staff Firmware Engineer to join Lenovo's ISG Firmware Engineering team. This role focuses on hands-on UEFI/BIOS firmware development, platform bring-up, feature ownership, debugging, and firmware enhancement for next-generation server platforms.

The successful candidate will be a strong firmware developer with recent coding experience and the ability to collaborate with global engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain UEFI firmware using EDK II and industry-standard firmware frameworks.
• Own firmware features and modules from design through implementation, validation, and sustaining support.
• Support server platform bring-up activities and resolve firmware-related hardware and software integration issues.
• Develop firmware functionality across areas including CPU, memory, PCIe, RAS, security, power management, and system management.
• Perform firmware debugging, root cause analysis, and issue resolution for complex platform problems.
• Collaborate with hardware, validation, operating system, and global firmware engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Contribute to firmware architecture discussions, technical reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support new product introduction (NPI) programs and ongoing platform maintenance activities.
  
  

Skills Experience

Must Have

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 5 to 7 years of firmware development experience.
• Strong C programming and firmware debugging skills.
• Recent hands-on coding experience in firmware or embedded software development.
• Experience developing or maintaining UEFI, BIOS, or embedded firmware solutions.
• Understanding of computer architecture, firmware design principles, and low-level software development.
• Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional and global engineering teams.
  
  

Good to Have

• Experience with EDK II and UEFI specifications.
• Experience developing firmware modules and owning features through the full product lifecycle.
• Experience with server platforms, AI server platforms, or enterprise systems.
• Familiarity with PCIe, RAS, security, power management, and system management technologies.
• Experience in Linux and Windows development or debugging environments.
• Experience using Git and firmware development tools.
