Overview

Synaptics is looking for a Staff Field Applications Engineer to join our dynamic and growing organization. You will be responsible for providing pre-sales and technical support for our growing edge AI processing business. This position reports to the VP, Sales Taiwan.

Responsibilities & Competencies

Job Duties

  • Collaborate with local sales and other groups within the company to get customer project design-wins by providing technical support to customers, identifying customer needs, providing technical solutions and helping them understand the company's Astra and Veros products and how to integrate them into their systems or applications
  • Conduct product demonstrations and presentations to showcase the capabilities and benefits of the company's products
  • Work with key OEM/ODM customers and/or internal engineering teams on the system design of company's embedded products including EdgeAI Gateway, IoT Hub, Home or Factory Automation Hub, UAV, Robotics, POS, IP Cam, etc.
  • Responsible for customer system integration of company's products
  • Develop in-depth expertise in the company's products and stay abreast of the latest developments and features
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key customers, understanding their unique needs and challenges
  • Support customer in using the open-source Astra SDK, Torq AI framework, and SyNAP AI framework to build a system with optimized AI models on Astra platform
  • Gather customer feedback on the company's products, features, and performance, and share this information with internal teams for product improvement

Qualifications (Requirements)

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or related field or equivalent
  • 8 years of experience in embedded product; experience in communication/embedded OEM, ODM is preferable
  • Strong understanding of embedded systems design and integration; familiar with Linux system operation, networking protocols (MQTT, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Z-Wave, Zigbee, Thread, Matter), and benchmark testing tools (IxChariot, iPerf)
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Hands-on experience taking projects from initial design conception to mass production
  • Experience in technical sales or customer support
  • Travel up to 50% to customer sites and industry events required
