About the role: Staff Engineer (Embedded Linux)

Job Description
We are seeking a Staff Engineer to lead the development and integration of Linux-based middleware for TV and STB products. This role combines deep technical ownership with team leadership, driving system-level design across audio, HDMI, networking, PQ, user control, and voice integration domains.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership & Ownership
- Lead the design and implementation of system middleware and control interfaces across multiple product programs.
- Own the architecture and evolution of:
- Audio policy logic and control interfaces
- HDMI configuration and certification-related controls
- Network (Ethernet/WiFi) configuration interfaces, including new standards
- PQ configuration interfaces for product and certification requirements
- User control interfaces (remote control, casting, etc.)
- TiVo voice integration interface layer between device and cloud (CSP, benchmarking, profiling)
- Debug Menu framework and maintenance
- Ensure scalability of middleware across multiple hardware configurations (SoC variants, board differences).
- Drive system-level integration with SoC SDKs and ODM mainboards.
- Lead root-cause analysis and complex cross-layer debugging (middleware kernel driver SDK)
Key Requirements:
- BS/MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in embedded Linux development.
- Strong hands-on experience in C/C++.
- Proven experience developing Linux services, middleware, or system applications.
- Deep understanding of Embedded Linux (Yocto or similar build systems).
- Experience leading engineers or owning subsystem-level architecture.
- Strong debugging skills across user space, kernel space, and hardware interfaces.
- Experience delivering production embedded products (TV/STB preferred).
Highly Desirable:
- Experience in TV/STB platforms and SoC SDK integration.
Experience with:
- Audio frameworks and HDMI standards
- Networking stack (Ethernet/WiFi/Bluetooth)
- IPC mechanisms
- Open-source middleware frameworks
- Experience working with certification requirements (Dolby, DTS, HDMI, etc.).
- Experience in TiVo OS turnkey or similar commercial TV platforms.
- Experience collaborating with ODMs and silicon vendors.
