COMPANY INFORMATION

Stathera is a fabless semiconductor company focused on providing cutting-edge MEMS-based timing solutions. With offices in Montreal and Toronto and Boston, our team is re-architecting the traditional quartz-based timing industry with the introduction of state-of-the-art DualMode™ frequency technology. This breakthrough innovation is redefining what is possible in timing applications and synchronization and has the potential to transform the entire $9.4 Billion electronics timing industry.

INTRODUCTION TO ROLE

Stathera is looking for a Sr. Staff Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) to join our team. This role will lead and manage all supplier quality activities across Asia, ensuring external partners meet Stathera's stringent standards for MEMS and semiconductor manufacturing. This position plays a pivotal role in assessing supplier capabilities, driving continuous improvement, and mitigating quality risks throughout the product lifecycle.

The Sr. Staff Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) will report directly to the Director of Operations - Asia and will be expected to work a total of 40 hours per week.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Supplier Quality Management: Assess supplier capabilities, conduct audits (e.g., ISO9001), and validate quality systems across all Asian suppliers.
  • Risk Mitigation & Documentation: Perform quality risk assessments across the product lifecycle and maintain traceable documentation of qualification milestones, issue resolution, and lessons learned.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Drive root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions (e.g., 8D, OCAP) for supplier-related quality issues.
  • Performance Tracking: Utilize statistical tools (e.g., JMP) to analyze yield, reliability, and quality data from suppliers, and provide insights to drive continuous improvement.
  • Continuous Improvement: Champion the use of quality tools and methodologies (e.g., PFMEA, PPAP, 5 Whys, fishbone diagrams) to enhance product robustness and supplier process maturity.
  • Cross-functional Interface: Act as a key technical interface between internal design, process, test, and manufacturing teams and external partners to ensure alignment on quality and reliability requirements.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Experience: BS or MS in Engineering or related field with 8 - 10 years of experience in the semiconductor or MEMS industry, specifically focusing on supplier quality (OSATs, foundries, etc.).
  • Supplier Audit & Systems: Experience with quality systems, supplier audits, and continuous improvement frameworks. Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., AEC-Q100, JEDEC, ISO9001, RoHS).
  • Technical Depth: Deep technical knowledge of MEMS and semiconductor fabrication, packaging, and test processes.
  • Quality Methodologies: Proficiency in quality engineering tools such as 8D, PFMEA, PPAP, and root cause analysis methodologies.
  • Data Proficiency: Strong analytical skills and experience with statistical analysis tools (e.g., JMP) for quality and reliability data.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication and collaboration skills across global teams and suppliers. Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional technical initiatives and influence without direct authority.

DESIRED SKILLS

  • Experience with timing devices, MEMS, and 2-dies components (MEMS + ASIC).
  • Strong knowledge of MEMS devices, wafer-level packaging, bumping, and reliability testing.
  • Experience with multiple package types (ceramic, plastic, WLCSP).
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-cultural collaboration skills.
  • Mandarin or other Asian language proficiency is a plus
