Overview

Synaptics is looking for a Sr. Staff ESD Engineer to join our dynamic and growing organization. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and testing measures to prevent and mitigate electrostatic discharge events in electronic systems and components. This position reports to the Director, ESD.

Responsibilities & Competencies

Job Duties

• Establish ESD design guidelines for new chip and revision
• Establish ESD/LU test plan and lead ESD testing for products
• Perform chip level ESD review and simulation
• Develop new ESD cells to meet chip ESD specification
• Collaborate with foundry/EDA vendor for ESD requirement
• ESD/EOS failure analysis and solution
• Create, manage and maintain technical documentation
  
  

Competencies

• In-depth knowledge of silicon HV/MV/LV ESD device characteristics, structure and layout rules
• Familiar with design/layout tools, including Virtuoso, Calibre
• Knowledge of ESD checking tools like PERC
• Familiar with ESD/LUP test and test plan establishment
• Excellent written & verbal communication, interpersonal and analytical skills, including the ability to communicate complex, interactive design concepts clearly to both technical teams and non-technical partners at the appropriate level of detail
• Proactive, self-starter, able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
• Well organized with strong attention to detail; proactively ensures work is accurate
• Positive attitude and work ethic; unafraid to ask questions and explore new ideas
• Resourceful and able to solve problems through adapting technology and a solid understanding of product architecture
• Analytical and able to make informed decisions based on experience

Qualifications (Requirements)

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent
• 12+ years experience in analog design with 5 years focused on product ESD design
• Familiar with general purpose and fail-safe IO design and simulation
• In-depth experience in product ESD/EOS failure analysis and solutions
• Proven experience in FinFET ESD development
• RF chip ESD review experience is a plus
• System/Module level ESD and surge testing experience is a plus
• Minimal travel up to 10%
