Job Description
- Lead mechanical and mechatronic design including structural planning, material selection, actuator integration, and DFM-oriented development.
- Integrate multicomponent robotic and electromechanical subsystems (actuators, sensors, control modules, embedded systems) into a cohesive, reliable, and maintainable product architecture.
- Apply engineering fundamentals such as heat transfer, dynamics, vibration, materials, and structural analysis to ensure optimal system performance.
- Develop electromechanical control modules leveraging electromagnetics, electronics, signal processing, and embedded system knowledge.
- Execute full mechanical development workflow: concept creation, CAD modeling, drawing release, documentation, and continuous optimization.
- Build and refine functional prototypes using 3D printing, CNC machining, smallbatch manufacturing, and rapid actuator/sensor integration.
- Perform electronics development including circuit design, PCB layout, prototyping, and embedded interface integration.
- Design and build test fixtures and verification platforms for system testing, reliability checks, and quality control.
- Drive supplier selection, evaluation, technical collaboration, and component sourcing to support mechanical and electronic system development.
- Lead rapid iteration cycles (Design-Build-Test-Refine) to validate concepts, improve system reliability, and support version control.
- Collaborate with crossfunctional teams including software, control, and robotics engineering to ensure complete system integration.
- Conduct reliability, safety, and compliance testing aligned with international engineering standards.
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation throughout the development process.
The Successful Applicant
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 3-5+ years of experience in mechatronic system development, including concept design, prototyping, and preparing products for production.
- Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360) and familiarity with CAM, surface modeling, and DFM principles.
- Strong understanding of GD&T, materials selection, cost optimization, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with FEA, risk assessment, thermal analysis, and structural evaluation.
- Handson skills in rapid prototyping (3D printing, CNC machining, smallbatch fabrication).
- Strong competence in embedded system integration, actuator control, sensor interfacing, and communication protocols (UART, SPI, I2C, CAN).
- Experience with PCB prototyping, motor drivers, signal processing, and electronic subsystem integration.
- Ability to integrate mechanical, electrical, and control components into a fully functional system.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced development cycles with strong ownership and execution capability.
- Familiarity with industry safety and compliance standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ROS/ROS2, embedded systems, robotics frameworks, or motor control.
- Familiarity with Linux/Ubuntu, Python, C++, PLCs, or real-time control systems.
- Background in startup environments or robotics industries.
