POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a senior firmware engineer to design and develop Power Management Controller (PMC) systems used in hyperscale power shelf solutions.
The PMC is an embedded Linux-based system controller responsible for monitoring, aggregating, and managing multiple power modules (PSU/BBU) and exposing system-level services via Redfish, Web UI, and network interfaces.
This role focuses on system-level firmware architecture, data processing pipelines, and power system control, rather than low-level driver development.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
System & Feature Ownership
- Own the design, implementation, and lifecycle management of PMC software components
- Lead development of new PMC features aligned with customer and platform requirements
- Define and maintain software architecture for power monitoring and control systems
Power System Monitoring & Control
- Develop firmware to monitor and control PSU / BBU modules via PMBus / Modbus
- Implement telemetry collection (voltage, current, power, temperature, alarms, etc.)
- Manage aggregation of power data at shelf/system level
Data Architecture & Software Framework
- Design and implement PMC software layers including:
- Data processing (polling, validation, reporting)
- Data management / warehousing
- System actions (configuration, housekeeping, firmware update)
- Define and maintain system models such as:
- PSU / shelf / manager / FRU resources
Platform & Interface Development
- Develop and integrate system interfaces:
- Redfish API / RESTful services
- Web UI / GUI
- SSH / CLI tools
- Enable communication over:
- Ethernet (TCP/IP, UDP)
- I2C / PMBus / RS232 / Modbus
Software Quality & Collaboration
- Perform code reviews, refactoring, and continuous improvement
- Support system integration, validation, and release activities
- Work closely with FAE, customers, and cross-functional teams
- Collaborate with global PMC engineering teams (e.g., Philippines-based team) to share resources, align system architecture, and co-develop features across regions
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Core Technical Skills
- Strong experience with embedded Linux systems (application layer focus)
- Proficiency in C/C++ for system-level firmware
- Experience with Python / scripting for system integration and automation
- Solid understanding of software architecture and system design
Communication & Protocols
- Familiarity with:
- PMBus / I2C / Modbus
- TCP/IP networking
- Redfish or RESTful APIs
- Experience building system-level services and data models
Domain Knowledge
- Experience in one or more:
- Power systems / power supply / server power infrastructure
- System monitoring / telemetry platforms
- Embedded system management controllers (e.g. BMC / PMC)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with OpenBMC / Yocto-based systems
- Knowledge of power telemetry aggregation and system-level analytics
- Hands-on experience with:
- Web UI integration
- Firmware update / lifecycle management
- Experience in hyperscale or datacenter power systems
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
