About GMI Cloud
GMI Cloud is a fast-growing AI infrastructure company backed by Headline VC and one of only six cloud providers worldwide to earn NVIDIA's prestigious Reference Platform Cloud Partner designation.
We operate 8 of our own GPU clusters across the U.S. and Asia, delivering a full spectrum of services from GPU compute to AI model inference API solutions. As an NVIDIA Reference Platform Cloud Partner, our infrastructure meets the highest standards for performance, security, and scalability in AI deployments. We empower AI startups and enterprises to build AI without limits — providing everything they need to prototype, train, and deploy AI models quickly and reliably.
The Role
This is not a traditional procurement role. At GMI Cloud, sourcing is a competitive weapon.
As the Sourcing Director, you will navigate the complex global supply chain for AI hardware, negotiating directly with Tier-1 OEMs, ODMs, and component suppliers. You will be expected to out-maneuver the competition to secure high-demand GPUs, servers, and networking equipment — while building an agile, resilient supply chain that can keep pace with the speed of AI.
Reports to: COO
Location: Taipei, Taiwan (Hybrid)
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic GPU & Hardware Sourcing
Design and execute high-stakes sourcing strategies for critical AI assets, including H-series/B-series GPUs, high-density server racks, and advanced networking gear (InfiniBand/RoCE).
- High-Leverage Negotiation
Lead end-to-end negotiations with global suppliers to secure best-in-class pricing, priority allocation, and favorable terms. You are expected to challenge the status quo and drive maximum value for GMI.
- ODM/OEM Management
Leverage Taiwan's unique ecosystem by managing relationships with key manufacturing partners, ensuring visibility into production cycles and mitigating supply chain bottlenecks.
- Supply Chain Resilience
Proactively identify and mitigate risks related to geopolitical shifts, lead-time fluctuations, and market shortages.
- Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) Optimization
Work closely with Finance and Engineering to optimize the unit economics of our data center deployments without compromising on technical performance.
- Cross-Functional Leadership
Act as the bridge between technical engineering requirements and commercial execution, ensuring our infrastructure roadmap is supported by a robust supply base.
Qualifications
- Experience: 10+ years in Strategic Sourcing or Supply Chain Management, with at least 5 years in the Hyperscale, Data Center, or Semiconductor industries.
- Industry Network: Deep, existing relationships within the Taiwan/Global server supply chain (ODMs like Quanta, Wiwynn, Foxconn, etc.) highly preferred.
- Technical Literacy: Strong understanding of data center infrastructure, GPU architectures, and the components that make up a modern AI cluster.
- Negotiation Prowess: A proven track record of fierce negotiation — you know how to push back, create leverage, and close complex deals under tight deadlines.
- Analytical Depth: Ability to analyze market trends (e.g., memory pricing, wafer capacity) and translate them into actionable sourcing pivots.
- Growth Mindset: A get-it-done attitude. You thrive in the ambiguity of a startup but execute with the precision of a global leader.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or Business; MBA or advanced technical degree is a plus.
