  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in one or more general purpose programming languages (e.g., C/C++).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related technical fields.
  • 2 years of experience with working with embedded operating systems.
  • Experience with system thermal, power or performance management.
  • Experience with an operating system (e.g., Linux).

The Pixel Device Thermal Software Team is responsible for developing thermal management software, tuning device policy, collecting thermal metrics, analyzing and profiling key CUJs for both Tskin and Tj. We work with cross-functional teams to create innovative and efficient solutions to control Tskin/Tj within the target and make hard trade-offs in creating the best user experience.

The Google Pixel team focuses on designing and delivering the world's most helpful mobile experience. The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google's artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

Responsibilities

  • Enhance SoC platform and device thermal bring up.
  • Develop operating system thermal management software, including Tskin, Tj, userspace API and frameworks.
  • Establish and improve thermal KPIs (lab and field) for key use cases.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partner teams to improve thermal on future hardware architectures.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts (Python, Shell) for executing thermal stress tests and simulating user workloads. Create tools for automated data logging, parsing, and analysis of temperature, power, and performance data.
