Job Description

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in C++ or C programming language.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Experience in embedded system or firmware environments.
  • Experience in Linux kernel development.
  • Experience with BMC, with contributions to the upstream community, and knowledge of standards like Redfish, Platform Level Data Model (PLDM), Management Component Transport Protocol (MCTP).
  • Experience in using Quick Emulator (QEMU) for hardware emulation and system modeling.
  • Knowledge of high-speed Input/Output Peripherals (e.g., Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIe), USB, Ethernet, Embedded Multi-Media Card (eMMC)) or low-speed Input/Output Peripherals (e.g., Universal Asynchronous Receiver/Transmitter (UART), Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI), I2C, I3C, JTAG).

You will be bringing the newest industry technologies, maintain and enhance the Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) firmware and software stack built upon it, which manages every server in Google's production fleet. You will work on a specific project critical to Google's needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and the business grow and evolve.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements. Write detailed specifications and design documents for software architecture and systems.
  • Work with open-source software, develop and integrate server management software.
  • Maintain and provide support for systems in the fleet.
  • Develop, maintain and integrate software test infrastructure, unit tests and integration tests.
  • Lead the vendors to achieve code quality.
