Laboratory Animal Services Centre
Senior Veterinarian (Ref. 260000SX) (Closing date: June 4, 2026)
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is seeking a highly experienced and leadership-driven professional for the position of Senior Veterinarian.

This is an exceptional opportunity to lead within the stimulating field of laboratory animal science, managing a multidisciplinary team in a world-class research environment. Based at the Laboratory Animal Services Centre (LASEC) in Shatin and its satellite facilities, the appointee will play a pivotal role in maintaining the highest standards of animal welfare and research support. Duties include (a) Strategic Leadership: assisting the Director in the development and implementation of LASEC policies and the strategic advancement of the animal care programme (b) Team Management: supervising the Veterinary Team, ensuring excellence in animal welfare, surgical/medical best practices (c) Operational Oversight: administering an animal care and use programme strictly aligned with AAALAC International standards (d) Technical Supervision: supervising Animal Technicians to ensure daily husbandry and technical tasks meet rigorous regulatory requirements (e) Training & Support: providing expert instruction, anaesthesia support, and specialised training to the research community and (f) Emergency Care: overseeing and providing emergency veterinary coverage as required.

Applicants should be/have (i) a professional Bachelor's degreein veterinary-related disciplines (ii) a registered Veterinary Surgeon in Hong Kong with a valid Practising Certificate (iii) a valid Practising Certificate issued by the Hong Kong Veterinary Surgeons Board(iv) at least 10 years post-registration relevant work experience at a senior or management level (iv) deep knowledge and proven experience in laboratory animal medicine and (v) strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to navigate a complex academic environment.

Appointment will initially be made on a 2-year contract with contract-end gratuity, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
