Job Description

A new stream in Master of Arts in Applied Social Sciences, named Clinical Mental Health Practice, will be launched in AY2025/26 (subject to the University's approval). The new stream Clinical Mental Health Practice aims to help students, who are social workers, counsellors and helping professionals, to develop their specialised knowledge and practice competence to work with a diversity of people with mental health problems and needs, such as schizophrenia, depression, anxiety, personality disorder, autism, attention deficit & hyperactivity disorder, dyslexia, prolong grief disorder, and dementia (please visit for more details).

Another new stream in Master of Arts in Applied Social Sciences, named Family Conflict Resolution & Mediation, will be launched in AY2025/26. The new stream Family Conflict Resolution and Mediation aims to provide students, who are helping professionals, with practical knowledge, hands-on training, and specialised expertise in dealing with family conflicts and issues. This enables students not only to apply relevant skills and knowledge at work, but also to invest in and develop the family mediation profession, giving them an advantage in the job market (please visit for more details).

Duties

  1. Teach courses related to clinical assessment and intervention as well as crisis intervention in working with a diversity of people with mental health problems for the Clinical Mental Health Practice stream or teach courses related to family mediation and conflict resolution as well as domestic violence and parent education for the Family Conflict Resolution & Mediation stream
  2. Act as programme leader/course leaders, contributing to the planning and development of courses and study programmes of the Department
  3. Undertake teaching and teaching-related duties, as well as learning support and professional activities to enhance student learning experiences
  4. Contribute to professional engagement, networking, and outreach activities that enhance the academic and professional reputation of the Department and
  5. Perform administrative duties as required by the Head of Department.

Requirements

Candidates for Senior Teaching Fellow should have a Doctoral/PhD degree in Clinical Psychology/Social Work/Counselling/Psychiatry or equivalent, with substantial professional experience and recognisable achievements in mental health or family practice. Preference will be given to those who have a record of teaching and administrative excellence, a contribution to teaching development, and demonstrated experience and achievement in curriculum design and student supervision.

Candidates for Teaching Fellow should have a Master degree in Clinical Psychology/Social Work/Counselling/Psychiatry or equivalent, with substantial professional experience in mental health or family practice. Preference will be given to those who have experience in teaching and administration.

Successful candidates are expected to commence duty on or before August 2025.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
