Senior Statistical Analyst (at the rank of Technical Manager) in the Department of Medicine, School of Clinical Medicine(Ref.: 534866­­­)

We now invite applications for the captioned post.

The Role

The appointee will play a pivotal role in supporting the Medical Oncology team's clinical and translational research portfolio. The appointee will lead the statistical design, analysis, and interpretation of oncology studies, including clinical trials and observational research.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide expert statistical consultation to Principal Investigators and research staff on study design, sample size calculation, randomization procedures, and data analysis plans
  • Lead the analysis of complex datasets, including clinical trial data, genomic data, and electronic health records, using advanced statistical methods
  • Develop, implement, and validate reproducible statistical pipelines and workflows
  • Contribute to the preparation of research manuscripts, grant proposals, and regulatory submissions, ensure statistical rigor and clarity
  • Supervise and mentor junior statistical analysts and research staff in the team
  • Collaborate with investigators to translate research findings into clinical practice and academic publications
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Qualities

  • AMaster's degree or above in Biostatistics, Statistics, Bioinformatics, Epidemiology, or a related discipline with atleast 5 years of relevant post qualification experience, preferably in a medical, academic, or clinical research settings
  • Specialization in oncology or clinical trial statistics is highly preferred
  • Strong technical skills in statistical software includingR, SAS, or STATA, and proficiency inPythonorLinuxfor data management would be an advantage
  • Solid understanding of clinical trial methodologies, survival analysis (Kaplan-Meier, Cox regression), longitudinal data analysis, and handling of high-dimensional data
  • Demonstrated ability to lead research projects from design to publication, with a track record of co-authorship in peer-reviewed journals
  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken) with the ability to explain complex statistical concepts to non-statisticians
  • Knowledge of Cantonese or Putonghua is advantageous
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently as well as collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.

What We Offer

The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 2-3 years, to commence as soon as possible, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits.
