Job Description:
Senior/Staff Process Integration Engineer (Optoelectronics)
Role Overview
As a Senior/Staff Process Integration Engineer, you will be the critical link between R&D and mass production. Working closely with RnD and product team, you will translate complex device designs into stable, manufacturable process flows on InP and GaAs platforms. This role requires a sophisticated blend of III-V process knowledge, statistical rigor, and the communication skills to manage high-stakes relationships with key foundries in Taiwan.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Foundry Management: Serve as the primary technical interface for Taiwan-based foundries. Manage technology development cycles and the transition from pilot runs to mass production (MP)
- End-to-End Process Integration: Oversee the full wafer fabrication flow. Ensure that epitaxy, lithography, etching, and metallization are optimized to deliver stringent device performance.
- Yield Ownership: Own yield enhancement projects by identifying root causes of failure. Implement and audit quality control protocols at the CM/Foundry level to achieve long-term process stability.
- Data-Driven Optimization: Utilize SPC and JMP to monitor process stability, identify trends, and execute DOE for improvement.
Candidate Requirements
Technical Expertise
- Professional Experience: 8+ years of hands-on experience in compound semiconductor (III-V) process integration or wafer fabrication.
- Device Physics: Deep understanding of the fabrication nuances for Lasers and Photo Detectors.
- Process Understanding: Direct exposure to and strong understanding of key unit processes, including photolithography, dry/wet etching, thin-film deposition, and metallization specific to III-V materials.
- Analytical Tools: Proficiency in SPC (Statistical Process Control) and advanced data analysis software such as JMP for yield analysis and process stability monitoring.
Communication & Logistics
- Bilingual Fluency: Professional-level proficiency in both English and Mandarin Chinese is mandatory. You must be able to conduct technical reviews with foundry engineers and report strategic yield data to executive leadership.
- High Mobility: Ability and willingness to travel frequently (up to 50%) to CM in Taiwan to provide on-site support at foundries and contract manufacturers.
Education
- Bachelor's, Master's or PhD's degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field.
