Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience with software development in C++ or C programming languages.
- 3 years of experience in testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
- 3 years of experience in working with embedded operating systems.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- 7 years of experience in embedded firmware.
- Experience in Reliability, Availability, Serviceability (RAS) features, telemetry, or server health monitoring frameworks.
- Experience in BMC development or Linux kernel development.
- Experience in leading projects.
About the jobIn this role, you will develop the next-generation technologies that change how users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. You will bring fresh ideas from all areas, including information retrieval, distributed computing, system design, networking and data storage, security, and artificial intelligence. You will will be bringing the newest industry technologies, maintain and enhance the BMC firmware (BMC) firmware and software stack built upon it, which manages every server in Google's production fleet. Responsibilities
- Maintain technical leadership and exercise ownership over components of the BMC software solution.
- Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices.
- Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
- Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
- Work across boundaries and with vendor partners to ensure engineering excellence and adherence to industry standards.
