Position Title: (Senior) Silicon Photonic Engineer

Your Job

Molex is seeking a (Senior) Silicon Photonic Engineer to join our Optical Solutions Business Unit (OSBU). In this role, the successful candidate will be part of a world-class engineering team, contributing to the development of next-generation Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs). The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and validating photonic components and circuits. The (Senior) Silicon Photonic Engineer will provide design support for existing and advanced photonic technology and collaborate with global, cross-functional teams and supplier partners to develop next-generation photonic solutions.

What You Will Do


  • Conduct detailed design optimization following high-level design models from managers.
  • Manage specific steps in executing engineering prototypes or functional samples and/or in conducting design validation, inspection, and testing.
  • Layout detailed design implementation and process requirements for production transfer.
  • Validate and document design details, principles, and rationales.
  • Design building blocks to meet target specifications.
  • Operate design simulation tools according to expertise, such as HFSS, FIMMWAVE/FIMMPROP, LUMERICAL, etc.
  • Collaborate internally to complete building block performance evaluation.
  • Define testing plans and conditions for building blocks and debug.
  • Conduct design reviews to finalize design parameters.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)


  • Master's degree in Physics, Semiconductor, Optics, or Optoelectronics.
  • At least 1 year of experience in the optical communication industry or relevant academic research projects.
  • Experience in designing and characterizing semiconductor lasers, electro-optical devices, or passive devices.
  • Familiarity with at least one design simulation tool for semiconductor devices, waveguide optics, RF integrity, or IC layout.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in reading and writing English; reasonable speaking skills.

What Will Put You Ahead


  • More than 2 years of experience in optoelectronic device design, photonic integrated circuit design, or RF/DC characterization.
  • Expertise in the design, optimization, layout, and validation of silicon photonic components and circuits.
  • Proficient in using simulation tools like HFSS, FIMMWAVE/FIMMPROP, and Lumerical.
  • Familiarity with Si/CMOS process technologies or fabrication of silicon photonic devices.
  • Hands-on experience with EDA tools (e.g., Cadence, Silvaco, Klayout).
