Job Description

• Develop deep technical expertise in advanced silicon photonics technologies and identify opportunities for new device innovation.
• Translate system-level optical requirements into component and Photonic Integrated Circuit specifications.
• Partner with foundries, design houses, technology providers, and internal stakeholders to define long-term photonics roadmaps.
• Evaluate process technologies and manufacturing capabilities to ensure design feasibility and performance targets are achievable.
• Lead feasibility studies, proof-of-concept initiatives, and next-generation technology development programmes.
• Support strategic collaborations and joint development projects with customers and industry partners.
• Work across optics, packaging, hardware, mechanical, manufacturing, and system design teams to ensure successful Photonic Integrated Circuit integration.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to engineering teams across the organisation.

The ideal candidate is a recognised technical leader with extensive experience in silicon photonics and optoelectronic product development.

• PhD in Photonics, Physics, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 15+ years of experience in optoelectronic component design, development, or technology management.
• 7+ years of direct industry experience in silicon photonics technologies.
• Proven track record leading the development of photonic integrated circuit solutions.
• Strong expertise in high-speed optoelectronic device design and performance optimisation.
• Solid understanding of CMOS semiconductor manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of wafer-level processing, advanced packaging, and the semiconductor supply chain ecosystem.
