Job Description

Engineering Discipline
Ref. no : C/ENG/SPO(AMEC)/09/26-AP1
Major Duties:
(a) To provide academic leadership in the planning, design, and development of training programmes, curricula, and related assessment materials for the Aviation and Maritime Education Centre (AMEC)
(b) To take a leading role in the day-to-day operations of the AMEC, including the planning, setup, and delivery of training activities, and ensuring that facilities, equipment, and resources are available and fit for purposes
(c) To lead the strategic development of the AMEC's training facilities and equipment, including advising on the acquisition, procurement, and commissioning of new assets, with a focus on technological advancement and industry needs
(d) To build and cultivate relationships with the aviation industry, professional bodies, government departments, and other key stakeholders to establish collaborations for strategic developments, including industrial attachments and industry-based student projects
(e) To develop and review operational policies for the operational unit, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and maintaining the quality and safety standards of the training environment and
(f) To contribute to the Discipline's strategic development, including exploring and sharing new training needs and trends to support continuous improvement and the development of continuing and professional education (CPE) programmes / consultancy projects.
Requirements:
(a) A recognised degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Aviation Engineering or equivalent, preferably with a post-graduate qualification or recognised professional qualifications such as an Aircraft Maintenance Licence or Airline Transport Pilot Licence
(b) At least 5 years relevant industry / training experience in aviation operations / aircraft maintenance at an appropriate level of responsibility
(c) Good networking and liaison skills to establish connections and strategic relationships with industry partners, professional bodies, and government departments, preferably within the aviation sector
(d) Preferably with knowledge and practical experience in procurement procedures, tender administration, contract management and budget control
(e) Good administrative, interpersonal, communication, and team building skills and
(f) Good presentation skills and a high level of proficiency in both English and Chinese, including Putonghua.
Notes:
(1) The post is in the rank of Senior Lecturer.
(2) Applicants with substantial experience and achievements in the relevant field but without the required academic / professional qualifications OR those with exceptional academic / professional qualifications but with less experience may also apply.
(3) Shortlisted candidates will be required to attend a written assessment.
(4) The post is tentatively up to 31 August 2028.
(5) The appointee(s) may be required to perform duties outside normal working hours and at different work locations as assigned.
