Job Summary
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced
Senior Power Electronics Engineer to design, development, and validation of high-efficiency power electronics systems. The ideal candidate will have deep ability in AC-to-DC power conversion and to be experienced with renewable energy technologies, specifically including
solar inverters,
Battery Management Systems (BMS), or
Battery Power Storage Systems. This role is focusing on our next-generation power solutions for energy storage applications.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Power Electronics Design: Familiar with full design cycle of power conversion stages, with a strong emphasis on high-power, high-efficiency AC-to-DC rectifiers/converters for integration into BESS. Experienced in gate driver design, protection circuits including Over-Current Protection (OCP) and Over-Voltage Protection (OVP), thermal management, EMI/EMC considerations, and robust control strategies to ensure reliability and safety.
- Safety Standards: Familiar with safety standards such as UL 1741, IEEE, and IEC, and experienced in PCB design ensuring proper clearance and creepage for compliance and reliability.
- Component Selection: Specify and evaluate critical power components, including power semiconductors (e.g., SiC/GaN), magnetics (e.g., inductors, transformers), and passive components.
- BMS and BESS Integration: Collaborated closely with battery and firmware teams to ensure seamless electrical and communication interfaces between the power conversion system and energy storage components. Experienced in designing and implementing pre-charge circuits, contactors, and relays for safe and reliable operation.
- Simulation & Analysis: Conduct detailed electricals simulations (e.g., using MATLAB/PSIM) for circuit behavior, worst-case analysis, transient response, and thermal performance.
- PCB Design Guidance: Provide expert guidance on high-power PCB layouts, focusing on creepage/clearance, thermal management, signal integrity, and EMI/EMC mitigation.
- Testing and Validation: Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for hardware validation, including EVT/DVT, system integration, and performance testing in a high-power lab environment. Skilled in setting up and conducting high-power tests, double-pulse testing, and safety compliance tests to ensure reliability and design integrity.
