Senior Mechanical Engineer / R&D Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer / R&D Manager to lead a mechanical engineering team consisting of local and international engineers. This role will oversee mechanical design, opto-mechanical development, prototyping, validation, tooling, and new product introduction from concept through mass production.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead and manage the mechanical engineering team and establish effective team workflows and engineering processes.

- Design and evaluate opto-mechanical products, including optical lenses, camera modules, and imaging inspection equipment.

- Perform mechanical/structural evaluations and tolerance analysis, working closely with optical engineers to optimize product performance.

- Develop mechanical concepts and prototypes for system-level products, including mainboards, LCD panels, Wi-Fi antennas, and related components.

- Select and validate mechanical materials and components based on product requirements.

- Create detailed 2D/3D mechanical drawings and CAD designs.

- Manage mold and tooling development, including mold design reviews, trial runs, troubleshooting, and modifications.

- Conduct product/part testing, validation, and structural analysis.

- Manage engineering samples and prototype builds.

- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and mass production transfer.

- Independently manage projects from concept, design, prototyping, and validation through tooling and mass production.

- Collaborate with optical, electrical, manufacturing, quality, and other cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.

- Strong experience or at least 3 years of experience in mechanical design, product development, and R&D.

- Hands-on experience with opto-mechanical systems, camera modules, imaging equipment, or precision products is highly preferred.

- Solid knowledge of tolerance analysis, material selection, tooling/mold development, and manufacturing processes.

- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and mechanical design tools.

- Strong project ownership, problem-solving, and cross-functional communication skills.

- Experience leading or mentoring engineering teams is preferred.
