About the Role
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in mechanism design, including gears, cams, clutches, linkages, motors, and power transmission systems. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, manufacturable, and high-quality products while providing technical leadership throughout the product development lifecycle.
Reporting to: Engineering Manager, Mechanical Engineering
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of mechanical and electro-mechanical products from concept through mass productio
- Design complex mechanisms involving gears, clutches, cams, linkages, motors, and power transmission systems
- Develop mechanical concepts, detailed designs, prototypes, and validation plans
- Perform engineering analysis, risk assessment, and design verification to ensure product performance and reliability
- Collaborate closely with Manufacturing on injection moulding, machining, sheet metal, assembly, and production readiness.
- Resolve design, manufacturing, and product performance issues through root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
- Work cross-functionally with Electrical, Firmware, Software, Operations, and Marketing teams.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership on projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 8 years of mechanical product development experience.
- Proven experience taking products from concept, design, prototyping, validation, and mass production.
- Strong hands-on experience in mechanism design, including gear trains, clutches, cams, linkages, motion control, and power transmission systems.
- Experience designing electro-mechanical products involving motors, sensors, and drive systems.
- Strong knowledge of plastic, sheet metal, die-cast, machined, and rubber components.
- Proficient in SolidWorks and/or FEA.
- Good understanding of GD&T, DFM, DFA, and DFMEA principles.
- Experience with DOE, Six Sigma, and product reliability methodologies is advantageous.
