  • This positions is forOffice of Advancement (OA).
  • Strategy Development:
    • Design and implement strategies to attract and onboard new members to the SMU International Advisory Councils (IACs) from identified key markets (China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam).
    • Create country-specific engagement programs in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and China to enhance relationships with IAC members and expand SMU's industry network in these regions.
  • Research and Market Analysis:
    • Conduct ongoing research to identify influential industry leaders and potential members for the IACs, ensuring a robust membership pipeline that aligns with SMU's strategic goals.
    • Continuously monitor trends and gather market intelligence to inform the development of impactful programs and initiatives in IAC markets.
  • Engagement Implementation:
    • Develop and execute in-market engagement plans that bolster SMU's brand and reputation within IAC countries.
    • Generate leads for relevant SMU Schools, Offices, Centers, and Institutes (SOCI), fostering meaningful partnerships that support the institution's goals in its strategic priorities, with a particular focus on advancement objectives.
  • Event Management:
    • Support the conceptualisation, audience development and event management of IAC engagement activities including but not limited to in-country visits, thought leadership events, private dinners, members visits to SMU.
    • Conceptualise and manage gift appreciation events in IAC markets.
    • Conceptualise and manage a series of intimate cultivation events in Singapore that will bring regional IAC members and local donors/prospects together in ways that add value to them and increase their connection to the SMU ecosystem.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with the fundraising team and relevant SOCIs to create tailored engagement approaches for IAC members, ensuring alignment with university advancement goals.
    • Facilitate communication between SMU and industry partners to strengthen connections and support collaborative initiatives.
  • Impact Assessment:
    • Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of engagement programs and initiatives, with a focus on their contribution to SMU's strategic priorities in education, research, and international growth.
    • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate progress, challenges, and successes to the Advancement Team and University leadership.
  • Any other duties assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with at least 5 to 8 years of relevant work experience in stakeholder engagement and relationship management and regional programme management.
  • For this role, the ideal candidate would require a blend of qualifications in international relations, business development, stakeholder engagement, event management, and market research.
  • Demonstrated experience in:
    • Building and managing senior-level relationships with business leaders, entrepreneurs, family business owners, C-suite executives, and industry associations.
    • Organising executive-level events, advisory council meetings, leadership dialogues, and networking programmes.
    • Conducting market research and stakeholder mapping to identify strategic partnership opportunities.
    • Working across multiple countries and cultures, particularly in Southeast Asia, China, and India.
    • Preparing briefing papers, reports, presentations, and engagement plans for senior leadership.
