Senior Laboratory Assistant in the Centre for Comparative Medicine Research(Ref.: 535016) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis or one-year temporary basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)
The Centre for Comparative Medicine Research is a rapidly expanding, AAALAC International accredited, academic research-support centre of the LKS Faculty of Medicine at HKU. We are committed to the provision of high-quality laboratory animals, well-equipped animal holding facilities, and professional services to support the leading role of HKU in research and teaching.
Applicants should possess 5 passes in HKCEE including English (min. Grade C if Syllabus A / Level 2 from 2007), OR min. Level 2 in 5 subjects in HKDSEE including English Language,OR combination of specialized training, education and experience. They should have at least 3 years of relevant experience working in a laboratory animal vivarium. Experience in at least one of the following fields is a must: animal husbandry and care animal breeding and colony managementoperation and maintenance of sanitation and sterilisation equipment (e.g. autoclave, rack washer, etc.). Applicants with inventory/record keeping and/ordriving experience would be an advantage.
The appointee will assist in carrying out the daily operations of the facility, preparing animals for procedures/surgery, setting up training sessions for researchers, animal colony management and animal health checks, and performing other duties as assigned. Shift duty on Sundays and public holidays is required.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment on a fixed-term basis will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary.
