Job Description

About the Role

This role is suited for are relationship-oriented fundraising professional who enjoys connecting with people, understanding donor motivations and translating meaningful conversations into long-term partnerships.

You will support HCA's major gifts programme by managing donor relationships, preparing tailored proposals and reports, coordinating donor engagement activities, conducting prospect research and working with colleagues across the organisation to develop funding opportunities.

While this role includes fundraising administration where required, its primary focus is building and stewarding relationships that inspire philanthropic giving.

Key Responsibilities

Major Gifts & Donor Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain meaningful relationships with individual donors, families, philanthropists, corporate partners and foundations.
  • Support the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major gift donors across the donor lifecycle.
  • Manage an assigned portfolio of donors and prospects appropriate to experience and organisational needs.
  • Conduct regular donor meetings, presentations and engagement sessions.
  • Prepare personalised stewardship plans and follow-up actions.
  • Coordinate donor visits, programme tours and engagement opportunities.
  • Ensure timely acknowledgement and recognition of donor support.

Prospect Research & Pipeline Development

  • Identify prospective major donors through research and networking opportunities.
  • Prepare donor profiles, briefing papers and meeting notes.
  • Maintain an accurate fundraising pipeline and relationship records.
  • Monitor donor interactions and recommend appropriate next steps.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to identify new funding opportunities.

Proposal Development & Institutional Fundraising

  • Prepare tailored funding proposals, concept papers and donor presentations.
  • Support grant applications and institutional fundraising opportunities.
  • Coordinate donor reports, impact updates and funding reports.
  • Work with programme and clinical colleagues to gather information required for proposals and donor reporting.
  • Assist in developing compelling cases for support aligned with HCA's funding priorities.

Stewardship & Donor Engagement

  • Develop meaningful stewardship experiences that strengthen donor relationships.
  • Coordinate donor appreciation events, recognition activities and engagement opportunities.
  • Ensure donors receive timely updates on the impact of their support.
  • Work with the communications team on donor stories and engagement materials where appropriate.

Partnerships & Fundraising Initiatives

  • Support corporate partnership discussions and community fundraising initiatives.
  • Represent HCA Hospice at networking events, meetings and fundraising activities where appropriate.
  • Support fundraising campaigns and special projects led by the Advocacy & Partnerships Department.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across HCA to identify opportunities for donor engagement.

Department Support

  • Prepare reports, presentations and fundraising updates.
  • Maintain accurate donor records using HCA's donor management system.
  • Support departmental planning, budgeting and fundraising administration where required.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of fundraising processes and donor experience.
  • Undertake other duties reasonably related to the role that support the department's fundraising and engagement objectives.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, Social Sciences, Non profit Management or a related discipline.

Experience

  • Approximately three to six years of relevant experience for Senior Executive level, or five or more years for Assistant Manager level, depending on experience and demonstrated competencies.
  • Experience in fundraising, philanthropy, donor relations, business development, account management, partnership management, relationship management or a similar c slient-facing role would be advantageous.
  • Experience in the charity, healthcare or social service sector is welcome but not essential.

Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to prepare donor proposals, reports and correspondence.
  • Strong presentation and meeting facilitation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple donor relationships and priorities.
  • Good organisational and project management skills.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office and Teams
  • Comfortable learning and working with donor management systems or CRM platforms.
  • High level of professionalism, discretion and integrity.
