Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and self-driven candidate qualified for the position of Senior Director Common Services to manage the market leading Switching Network Hardware Design Group. The successful candidate will lead a design and development group and will be responsible for engineering assignments related to hardware products as well as systems including development of new products, updates to existing products or sustaining current products. The candidate will be working closely with Product Marketing, Procurement, and Software teams to drive product definitions. Duties will include research, evaluation, development and application of new processes as well as methods in development of new or sustaining products. The candidate will be responsible for establishing and conducting testing routines, developing or executing project plans, budgets, schedules and documentation of work and test results. The candidate will demonstrate a deep understanding of hardware and all aspects of hardware development. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the group.

Skills & Responsibilities:

Provides innovative solutions to unusually complex and sensitive problems requiring ingenuity and creativity

Serve as technical consultant and technical leader

Evaluates work and communicates progress toward career development as well as goals

Engage with customers and suppliers on and product roadmaps and support.

Participates in corporate strategy development through advocacy for programs and projects within their technical area

Communicates progress toward projects and program goals

Leads development strategies and implements operational policies and directives.

Develops and provides challenging and tracks assignments and deliverables.

Strong knowledge and application of engineering concepts

Able to manage engineering experts in mechanical, thermal, EMC, and CAD

In-depth knowledge of industry standards, Safety and quality standards

Work with suppliers and partners to manage design, validation, qualification, and fabrication of complex hardware platforms.

Strong ability to lead, motivate and direct a workgroup

Strong communication skills

Proficiency in hardware systems environments and detail oriented

Strong organizational skills

Cross-Functional capabilities

Customer focused

Able to adapt to change

Skills Experience Requirements:

15+ years of experience in HW Product Development

Requires 4+ years managerial/leadership experience

Highly self-motivated with a strong multidisciplinary background.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Successful track record bringing products to market.

Typical Education:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering is preferred

Educational Requirements may vary by Geography

Travel:

Occasional overnight travel is required
