Position Summary:

The strategic Sr. Commodity Manager – Raw Materials Packaging will lead sourcing, negotiation, and supplier management for critical raw materials and packaging components. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of global material supply chains, packaging innovation, cost drivers, and supplier relationship management. This role is key to ensuring continuity of material supply, driving cost optimization, and supporting efficient manufacturing operations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

· Develop and execute comprehensive commodity strategies for key categories raw materials (e.g., resins, chemicals, substrates, metals) and packaging categories (e.g., corrugate, films, labels, custom packaging solutions).

· Source and manage new global suppliers through market research and performance reviews to strengthen the supply base, improve cost, quality, and delivery, and reduce risk.

· Monitor market trends, cost drivers, risks, and supply constraints for assigned commodities.

· Lead negotiations and manage long-term contracts, pricing, payment terms, and service-level agreements with global OEMs and distributors, overseeing large scale equipment purchases to secure best-value outcomes.

· Manage to and track supplier KPIs (on-time delivery, defect rates, lead-time adherence) and implement corrective actions.

· Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality and finance teams to align sourcing strategies with product and business requirements.

· Drive cost-reduction initiatives through value engineering, should-cost analysis, alternate material sourcing, and supplier innovation.

· Manage supplier performance metrics (QCD - Quality, Cost, Delivery), lead suppler business reviews, and issue resolution.

· Support supply chain continuity through dual sourcing strategies, safety stock planning, and risk mitigation programs.

· Maintain accurate procurement records, forecasts, and ERP/MRP system data.

· Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Travel:

· Less than 15% of Travel - to suppliers (domestic and international).

· May require off-hours communication with global suppliers and cross functional partners across time zones.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.

· Advanced analytical and negotiation skills.

· Deep understanding of raw materials and/or packaging markets, manufacturing processes, and cost drivers.

· Proven track record of lean procurement, value-engineering, cost-down methodologies and improving supplier performance.

· Familiarity with sustainability initiatives in packaging and raw material sourcing a plus.

· Fluency in English, Japanese is a plus.

Experience:

· 8+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, commodity management, or supply chain roles with a strong focus on raw materials and/or packaging

· Experience in the semiconductor, semiconductor equipment, electronics or high-technology manufacturing sectors preferred.

· Experience in working in fast-paced, cross-functional manufacturing or high-tech manufacturing industry.

· Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP/MRP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, or equivalent).

Education:

· Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

· Certification in supply chain or procurement (e.g. CPSM, CSCP, PMP).
