The Role

As a Senior Coating Inspector reporting to the site quality manager, you will represent LAUTEC during the fabrication of offshore wind components, providing independent surveillance and verification of corrosion-protection activities throughout the manufacturing process. Working within the Quality team, you will oversee supplier compliance with project specifications, coating procedures, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and applicable international standards.

What You Will Do

  • Perform coating inspections throughout fabrication in accordance with project specifications, approved procedures and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Verify surface preparation, environmental conditions, coating application and final acceptance of corrosion protection systems.
  • Conduct and witness coating inspections, including DFT, WFT, surface profile, soluble salt testing, adhesion testing and visual inspections.
  • Monitor supplier compliance with quality requirements, applicable standards and coating specifications.
  • Attend Hold Points, Witness Points and inspections as defined within project quality documentation.
  • Review coating records, inspection reports, material certificates and quality documentation.
  • Raise and follow up Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and support the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Liaise with suppliers, fabrication teams, client representatives and third-party inspectors to resolve quality-related issues.
  • Prepare accurate inspection reports and provide timely feedback to the Project Quality team.
  • Promote a strong quality and safety culture throughout all inspection activities.

What We Are Looking For

  • Relevant degree or study program within Engineering or similar, paired with a general interest in developing renewable energy projects.
  • Valid AMPP (NACE) Level 3, FROSIO Level III, or ICorr Protective Coatings Inspector Level 3 certification.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in coating inspection, including recent experience on offshore wind projects involving foundations, transition pieces, offshore substations, towers, or other large fabricated steel structures.
  • Proven experience performing supplier quality surveillance within fabrication yards, ensuring compliance with project specifications, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), quality requirements and client standards.
  • Strong practical knowledge of protective coating systems, including surface preparation, environmental monitoring, DFT/WFT measurements, surface profile, soluble salt testing, adhesion testing and coating repair inspections.
  • Good understanding of international coating and corrosion protection standards, including ISO 12944, ISO 8501–8504, NORSOK M-501 and other relevant offshore industry standards.
  • Experience reviewing quality documentation, inspection reports, material certificates, NCRs and Manufacturing Record Books (MRBs).
  • Fluency in English and excellent communication skills, enabling to present complex matters in a professional and straightforward way, any additional language is an advantage.
