The Team and Role
Logitech's CAD Team is at the center of innovation and new product development work, maintaining close collaboration with ME (mechanical engineering), ID (industrial design), CMF (colour, material & finish) and UX (user experience). We have a passion for cutting-edge CAD tools and workflows, a great understanding of manufacturing and a keen eye for details. Challenging problems excite us and our work helps put fantastic products in the hands of millions globally.
As a Senior CAD Engineer, you will be a pivotal link between engineers and designers developing new products at Logitech. You will be responsible for translating design vision into tangible reality.
This job is based out of Hsinchu, Taiwan and will have you collaborating closely with colleagues around the globe.
Your Contribution
- Develop production-ready 3D CAD models that define the A-side surfaces (what the user sees & touches) of our world-class products
- Lead innovation work that is exploring the cutting-edge of 3D CAD tools and workflows at Logitech
- Build computational design scripts that make complex and intricate geometry a reality
- Solve complex design problems at the intersection of manufacturing constraints, function and aesthetics
- When multiple 3D CAD tools or complex CAD strategies are involved, you will be too!
- Create prototypes that help you evaluate your on-screen designs in the real-world.
- Many at Logitech will use 3D CAD as a tool, but it will be your specialty. As such, you will be expected to lead and inspire others and teach on occasion too.
- Occasional international travel will be required.
Key Qualifications
- Great problem-solving skills with a hunger for learning
- Advanced 3D CAD user, with exceptional surfacing abilities (must submit portfolio when applying)
- Experience with the following 3D tools is a bonus: PTC Creo, Rhino, Grasshopper and Keyshot
- Ability to learn new 3D tools quickly (important for exploring new CAD tools and workflows)
- Understanding of injection-molding and how to design around its constraints
- Computational design experience (Grasshopper or equivalent) is an advantage for this job
- Fluency with different types of 3D printing (FDM, SLS, SLA, etc.)
- Comfortable preparing models for prototyping (CNC and 3D printing)
- Great presentation skills (verbal, written and visual)
- Experience with Adobe Illustrator and other Adobe CC tools is a bonus
- Experience in the consumer electronics industry is a bonus
- Strong English skills is essential for working in a global company
- Degree from an accredited engineering institution (or equivalent)
