Responsibilities
- Develop, validate, and optimize fiber optic termination and polishing processes to ensure consistent, high-quality production. Establish process parameters, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for fiber handling and finishing activities. Troubleshoot process-related issues and implement corrective actions to enhance yield and quality. Conduct root cause analysis and lead continuous improvement projects focused on reducing defects and improving throughput. Train production technicians on fiber termination and polishing best practices, emphasizing cleanliness and quality adherence. Collaborate with engineering and production teams to support new product introduction (NPI) and scale-up activities. Perform process validation, capability studies, and statistical analysis for process performance monitoring. Lead process development activities and provide technical guidance during design reviews. Maintain comprehensive documentation and ensure compliance with industry standards and quality management systems.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in Optical, Materials, Mechanical, Precision Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field or a Bachelor's Degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience. Technical proficiency in fiber optic termination, polishing, and inspection. Established history in new product introduction (NPI), Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and process development. Hands-on experience with automated test systems, tooling design, and equipment commissioning. Background in conducting risk assessments and implementing process controls for health, safety, and technical issues. Involvement in process improvement initiatives focusing on yield enhancement and cycle time reduction. Familiarity with compliance requirements and documentation processes, including SOPs and quality management standards. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards. Proficiency in statistical and analytical tools for monitoring and improving processes. Competency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Knowledge of laser assembly and familiarity with optical measurement systems is advantageous. Exposure to ERP systems, preferably SAP, is a plus.
