Job Description:

This role in the the Capital and Reinsurance Management team will oversee reinsurance risk management. It provides a unique opportunity to lead reinsurance activities and risk management and drive impactful solutions for various business needs such as capital optimization, business growth, income volatility.

• Act as the subject matter expert for reinsurance management, ensuring all reinsurance activities align with internal reinsurance operating guidelines and external regulatory requirements (GL17, GL12, and Cap 41R).

• Supervise reinsurance financial reporting, monitor and report reinsurance activities and counterparty risks, manage in-force treaties with recommendation, review new and amended agreements, analyze and respond to reinsurer requests such as rate review proposals and justifications.

• Explore and execute optimal reinsurance solutions to enhance capital efficiency and risk mitigation for wide range business objectives. Drive end-to-end implementation, including financial analysis, cost and benefit analysis, internal approvals, and treaty negotiation with reinsurers.

• Identify and implement improvements to enhance process efficiency and agility of reinsurance operations.

• Partner with pricing, finance, underwriting, legal, risk teams, as well as regional office and corporate teams to support broader reinsurance-related initiatives and requests.

• Supervise direct reports, contribute to other ad-hoc initiatives, and drive for excellence.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified actuary with 8+ years of experience in life insurance industry

• Extensive actuarial experience in valuation, capital management, and financial reporting

• Familiar with reinsurance reporting, governance and financial reinsurance are a strong asset

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a strong result-driven mindset

• Strong planning skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines

• Proven strengths in process enhancement and optimization

• Demonstrated capability to work independently and lead complex projects with minimal supervision

• Highly self-motivated with a strong learning mindset and high attention to details

• Effective leadership and people management capabilities

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in preparing professional reports and engaging senior stakeholders
