Position Summary
The SCM Manager will oversee and elevate the end-to-end supply chain, warehousing, and logistics operations for Straumann Group Taiwan (STTW). This role demands a high-caliber leader with a strong continuous improvement mindset, a strict adherence to internal controls (ICS/SOP), and data-driven decision-making capabilities.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring seamless inventory management (including consignment operations), minimizing operational errors, coaching and developing the logistics team, and leading critical local strategic initiatives—such as the system migration(SAP S/4HANA migration) and the upcoming New( Neodent) brand launch logistics. This position reports directly to the Head of Finance & Operations, Taiwan.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Project Execution & Digital Transformation
- Project MIKADO Lead: Act as the local business owner and key user for the global SAP S/4HANA migration. Lead IT1/integration testing preparation, localize test scripts, manage resource allocation, and ensure zero downtime or inventory discrepancy during the go-live transition.
- Brand Launch Readiness: Partner with Product Management to lead the operational and financial logistics preparation for the new brand launch, managing 6-month advance forecasting, warehouse space planning, and local portfolio submissions.
- Process Automation: Continually identify and drive opportunities for digital transformation and automation within SCM workflows to eliminate manual errors and administrative burdens.
- Warehouse, Logistics & Inventory Control
Daily Operations Oversight: Direct and optimize inbound and outbound warehouse activities (goods receipt, quality inspection, picking, packing, and courier/carrier coordination) to ensure timely and accurate customer deliveries.
- Strict SOP & ICS Compliance: Establish, implement, and rigorously enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Internal Control Systems (ICS) to ensure absolute organizational compliance and audit-readiness in a regulated medical device environment.
- Advanced Inventory Analysis: Move beyond surface-level metrics (such as historical averages). Utilize SAP and analytical tools to perform deep structural analysis of inventory trends, identify underlying anomalies, and execute root-cause analyses for discrepancies.
- Consignment/Loan & Cycle Count Management: Design and execute standard workflows for consignment stock monitoring and annual cycle counts in accordance with corporate procedures and financial statutory calendars.
- Regional Collaboration: Coordinate seamlessly with regional stakeholders, including the APAC Supply Chain, regarding regional logistics projects, demand planning, and local Value-Added Services (VAS) cost optimizations.
- Leadership, Team Coaching & Accountability
- Foster Personal Accountability: Build a high-performance culture based on transparency, ownership, and adherence to professional standards. Empower team members to take personal accountability and learn from operational gaps.
- Performance Remediation & Coaching: Proactively manage staff performance. Design and execute clear Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) or corrective training when operational gaps or compliance errors occur.
- Professional Mindset Development: Shift the team's culture from merely executing administrative or administrative tasks to possessing strategic, professional operational oversight.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) / Success Metrics
- Inventory Accuracy: Delivery accuracy rate and cycle count variance (Target: >99.8% accuracy).
- Project Milestones: On-time, on-budget, and zero-error delivery of Project MIKADO and Neodent launch logistics.
- Compliance Score: Zero major non-compliance findings in Internal Control System (ICS) reviews and quality audits.
- Operational Efficiency: Reduction in shipping errors and optimization of warehouse Value-Added Services (VAS) costs.
- Team Retention & Performance: Successful coaching of direct reports out of operational gaps and into professional competence.
Job Requirements
Experience & Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 5–8 years of progressive experience in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Warehouse Operations, preferably within the Medical Device, Pharmaceutical, or highly regulated industries.
- Proven track record of managing and transforming local warehouse setups or moving from manual to automated/system-driven workflows.
Technical & Functional Skills
- System Expertise: Strong hands-on proficiency in SAP (experience with S/4HANA migration or acting as an SAP Key User is highly preferred).
- Analytical Rigor: Advanced data analysis skills (Excel, Power BI, etc.). Ability to perform structural analysis and read behind raw financial and operational numbers.
- Regulatory & Quality Knowledge: Familiarity with medical device logistics regulations, ISO standards, and Quality Management Systems (QMS).
Leadership & Soft Skills
- Hands-on & Resilient: A hands-on leader who sees operational gaps before they escalate into problems and remains calm and organized under pressure.
- Firm & Accountable Leadership: Proven capability in team development, performance management (including handling critical PIPs), and driving structural mindset shifts in staff.
- Stakeholder Management: Excellent communication and negotiation skills in both English and Mandarin to effectively bridge local business goals with APAC regional expectations.
Qualifications
- College graduated or above
- At least 8-year experience in logistic or warehouse operations
- Healthcare or medical devices industrial experience is preferred
- Familiar with SAP in logistic related modules
- Business conversation in English
