Scientific Officer(s)
The appointee(s) will work at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Shatin, and will be responsible to assist the Director in (a) managing the usage, booking and maintenance of core and communal facilities at the Institute, including molecular biology facilities, cell biology core facilities, translational omics facilities and tissue culture facilities (b) managing the usage, booking and maintenance of Faculty core facilities, including animal research facilities (c) developing standard operating procedures and assuring user compliance (d) co-ordinating the provision of major services to research groups (e) co-ordinating safety-related matters in the Institute (f) supervising and training research support staff (g) providing assistance in the formulation of strategic plans of the Faculty of Medicine and the Institute (h) handling research deliverables and outputs (i) performing committee work (j) managing new projects and (k) performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Applicants should have (i) a PhD degree in a related discipline (ii) at least 5 years post-doctoral scientific research experience (iii) solid and demonstrated experience in laboratory management and institutional administration (iv) a solid background in molecular, cell biology, animal experimentation and/or related techniques, preferably with relevant publication record (v) excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, communication and organisational skills (vi) a self-motivated and hardworking attitude, and commitment in taking responsibility for one's direction and actions (vii) the ability to work independently and under pressure, and as a good team member and (viii) good computer literacy.

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is a public research university in Shatin, Hong Kong, formally established in 1963 by a charter granted by the Legislative Council of Hong Kong. It is the territory's second-oldest university and was founded as a federation of three existing colleges – Chung Chi College, New Asia College and United College – the oldest of which was founded in 1949.
CUHK is organized into nine constituent colleges and eight academic faculties, and remains the only collegiate university in the territory. The university operates in both English and Chinese, although classes in most colleges are taught in English. Four Nobel laureates are associated with the university, and it is the only tertiary institution in Hong Kong with recipients of the Nobel Prize, Turing Award, Fields Medal and Veblen Prize sitting as faculty in residence.
