Faculty of Medicine
Scientific Officer (carrying the job title of Impact Officer)

The Faculty is looking for an Impact Officer to assist the Faculty in creating an impact of research for academics and researchers, including preparation for the University Grants Committee (UGC) Research Assessment Exercise (RAE).
The appointee will join the Faculty's Research Administration Team in supporting the Associate Dean (Research), and will be responsible for (a) overseeing the planning and development of impact cases (b) proactively engaging academics and researchers in their impact case development (c) archiving evidence and results to ensure appropriate profiling of research impact (d) identifying and advising on potential areas of impact to maximise the Faculty's research outcomes (e) preparing impact case studies for submission to RAE , including compiling references, corroborating sources and drafting narratives that summarize demonstrable impacts beyond academia and (f) compiling reports for RAE submission, including the Faculty's Unit-of-Assessment-level Environment Overview Statement outlining strategies for impact, research culture, collaboration, and institutional support within relevant Units of Assessment.
Applicants should have (i) a PhD degree in Science/Medical Sciences or a related discipline (ii) at least 1 year's clinical or scientific research and/or laboratory management experience (iii) prior experience with the RAE will be a strong advantage (iv) expertise in data collection, analysis and report writing (v) a good understanding of research and knowledge exchange activities in a university setting (vi) excellent written English proficiency (vii) an empirical understanding of the needs and interests of internal and external key stakeholders (including academics, research grant funding agencies, Bureaus, and health authorities) (viii) excellent communication and organisational skills and (ix) the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Appointment will initially be made on a 2-year contract with contract-end gratuity, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is a public research university in Shatin, Hong Kong, formally established in 1963 by a charter granted by the Legislative Council of Hong Kong.
