The Hong Kong Institute of Educational Research (HKIER) invites committed practitioners with strong expertise and leadership in Information and Communication Technology or/and Science Education to join the Quality School Improvement Project (QSIP) as School Development Officer(s) (SDO) in the 2026/27 school year.QSIP is an organisation established by the HKIER in 1998, dedicated to driving comprehensive school improvement in its role as an external change agent. Through the provision of professional school-based support, QSIP endeavours to strengthen teachers professional capacity, facilitate school improvement, and enhance the quality of education. Over the years, QSIP has evolved from a project-based initiative into an organisation that conducts multiple projects funded by diverse sources, while also offering self-financing professional school improvement programmes. (For more details, please visit: Applicants should possess (i) a Bachelor's degree (ii) at least ten years of relevant experience in secondary education, preferably with responsibilities in school management, leadership, and curriculum development (iii) substantial experience in leading a subject department or functional group and (iv) strong pedagogical content knowledge and effective teaching strategies in relevant academic subject(s), including the effective use of AI to enhance learning and teaching and to cater for learner diversity. Preference will be given to candidates with (1) a higher degree in a relevant subject discipline (preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, Physics, Biology, or Education) (2) a professional background equivalent to Principal Graduate Master (PGM) / Senior Graduate Master (SGM) in secondary schools, or above (3) a proven track record of facilitating school improvement at both school-level and department-level (4) solid experience in teaching junior forms Science in local secondary schools and (5) substantial professional experience in educational organisations in addition to experience in secondary schools. Candidates with less experience (at least six years of relevant experience) after obtaining the Bachelor's degree will be considered for the appointment as SDO II.The appointee(s) will (a) provide school-based support to partner schools on a regular basis to strengthen the professional capacity of school leaders, middle-level leaders, and frontline teachers (b) support schools in internalising a systematic E-PIE cycle for school self-evaluation (c) facilitate professional development through collaborative practices, lesson study, consultations, and action learning and (d) conceptualise and disseminate effective school improvement practices in areas such as school management, learning and teaching, and student support through articles, exemplars, publications, toolkits, and reports.Appointment will initially be made on a full-time/fractional-time/part-time contract basis for one to two years, renewable subject to mutual agreement.Review of applications will continue until 31 August 2026, or until the post is filled, whichever is earlier.The University only accepts and considers applications submitted online for the post above via the CUHK career site. The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is a public research university in Shatin, Hong Kong, formally established in 1963 by a charter granted by the Legislative Council of Hong Kong. It is the territory's second-oldest university and was founded as a federation of three existing colleges – Chung Chi College, New Asia College and United College – the oldest of which was founded in 1949.
CUHK is organized into nine constituent colleges and eight academic faculties, and remains the only collegiate university in the territory.
