Risk Management, Head

Our client is a commodities trading firm seeking a Head of Market Risk to lead its market risk function in Singapore. Reporting to senior management, the role will provide independent oversight of market risk while partnering closely with the trading desks and key stakeholders across the business.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the Market Risk function, providing independent oversight across the firm's trading portfolios.
• Monitor and analyse market exposures through VaR, stress testing, scenario analysis, position reporting and daily P&L attribution.
• Review and challenge trading positions, ensuring risks are identified, understood and managed within approved limits.
• Partner closely with traders, senior management and support functions on new products, trading strategies and business initiatives.
• Develop and enhance market risk methodologies, governance frameworks and reporting capabilities.
• Drive automation, data analytics and continuous improvements to strengthen risk management processes.
• Present meaningful risk insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
• Lead, mentor and develop the risk team while promoting a strong risk culture across the organisation.

Requirements:

• Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Quantitative Finance or a related quantitative discipline. A PhD would be advantageous.
• Significant experience in commodity market risk within a commodities trading house, energy company or financial institution.
• Strong understanding of physical and derivative commodities, including valuation methodologies and market risk drivers.
• Proven expertise in VaR, P&L attribution, stress testing, scenario analysis and risk governance.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to influence and challenge front-office stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL or other analytical tools is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated leadership experience with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
