Job Summary
The Restaurant Manager will lead business growth, staff hiring and training, inventory management, and customer service excellence in a fast-paced setting, ensuring quality, safety, and profitability.
Responsibilities
- Manage business operations including maintaining current liquor licenses, negotiating supplier contracts, managing budgets, and setting business goals to drive profitability
- Hire, train, and develop waitstaff to deliver excellent food, drinks, and customer service
- Create and adjust staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage during peak hours and resolve staffing conflicts promptly
- Implement and enforce quality and safety controls to maintain compliance and customer satisfaction
- Maintain and update all licenses in accordance with current legislation
- Collaborate effectively with diverse staff and patrons to foster a positive work and dining environment
- Plan, organize, and participate in promotional events to increase customer engagement and sales
- Diffuse tense situations among patrons or staff to prevent safety or legal issues, including ejecting unruly individuals when necessary
- Maintain a fun, safe atmosphere for patrons and staff alike
- Delegate responsibilities efficiently and optimize resource use to enhance operational effectiveness
- Demonstrate decisiveness in managing daily restaurant challenges
- Perform physical tasks such as walking, standing, and occasionally carrying heavy items in a fast-paced, stressful environment
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Experience in restaurant management or related education is generally preferred
- Strong understanding of business management and accounting principles
- Proficient computer skills to support operational and administrative tasks
- Excellent problem-solving skills applied to customer service and operational challenges
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to engage staff and patrons
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
