Job Description

The School of Life Sciences is seeking a motivated Research Assistant to join ongoing research projects focused on the genetic modification of starch structures in major staple crops, their processing, and their impacts on chronic diseases, including metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD), type 2 diabetes (T2D), and related metabolic disorders.

Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor's degree or above in Plant Science, Food Science, Nutrition, Computer Science, or a related discipline (ii) basic laboratory skills and familiarity with standard research techniques and equipment relevant to the field and (iii) strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative research team. Candidates with experience in food and nutrition research will be an advantage.

The appointee will work closely with the Principal Investigator to support and implement these research activities.

Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for one year commencing July 2025, renewable subject to satisfactory performance and mutual agreement.
