Join the Public Mental Health Laboratory at the Department of Psychology as a Full-time Research Assistant(s) / Junior Research Assistant(s).
Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor's degree or above in Psychology, Social Sciences, Public Health, or related fields from a recognised university (ii) excellent command in written and spoken English and Cantonese (iii) the ability to work independently while also being a valuable member of a multidisciplinary team. Attention to detail, responsibility, high motivation, and a genuine passion for mental health are important qualities. Candidate with at least one year of post-qualification experience in project management and/or community health promotion is preferred. Those who are trained in delivering low-intensity psychological interventions for common mental disorders (e.g., psychological well-being officer/practitioner) is definitely a plus.
We are a growing lab in the Department of Psychology at CUHK and our work focuses on: (1) Lifestyle medicine for mental health and the role of the gut microbiome (2) Circadian rest-activity rhythm phenotyping in major depressive disorder (3) Transdiagnostic sleep medicine in psychological disorders (4) Stepped care/low-intensity psychological interventions using digital technologies and (5) Nutritional psychiatry.
The appointee will be responsible for (a) contributing to ongoing studies and potentially new research initiatives by assisting with various research activities including recruiting and screening study participants, conducting structured clinical interviews, and delivering low-intensity psychological interventions for common mental disorders (b) supporting the daily operations of the research lab, ensuring smooth functioning such as data management, personnel coordination, and general administrative tasks such as writing blog posts to maintain and enhance the lab's productivity (c) assisting in a range of social impact projects, such as organising community events and collaborating with non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and (d) supporting the regulatory aspects of ongoing and new grants and studies, preparing Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications, managing grants, and assisting with budgetary management to ensure compliance and smooth progress of research projects.
Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for one year commencing July 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter, renewable subject to mutual agreement.

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is a public research university in Shatin, Hong Kong, formally established in 1963 by a charter granted by the Legislative Council of Hong Kong.
