Job Description

The Chung Group of Exposomics () is seeking a highly organised, Research Assistant / Junior Research Assistant. The primary role will be managing the group's administrative and financial operations. He/she will also gain hands-on research experience by assisting with the wet lab and field work under the guidance of senior group members. Candidate with an interest in environmental health data science and exposomics will also have opportunities to learn and grow within our group.Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Health, or related disciplines (ii) strong communication, organisational, and time management skills (iii) proficiency in everyday productivity software, such as Google Calendar and Microsoft Outlook (iv) a proactive attitude and be a self-starter who is willing to learn university-specific administrative protocols and lab techniques and (v) fluency in spoken Cantonese, with effective communication skills in Mandarin and English. Prior hands-on experience in sample processing, wet lab experiments, or field work will be an advantage. Basic knowledge of or experience with image editing software is also preferred.

The appointee(s) will be responsible for (a) managing purchasing processes, creating purchase orders, and handling expense reimbursements. Budget tracking such as maintaining internal spreadsheets of group expenses (b) coordinating administrative tasks for the research group, including scheduling meetings and booking rooms (c) managing and maintaining day-to-day activities and organisation within the laboratory, such as inventory management of lab and office supplies, maintaining lab safety records, equipment maintenance logs, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) and (d) assisting senior members with research activities, including sample processing, wet lab experiments, and field work.

Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for up to one year commencing as soon as possible, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
