The Reliability Engineer provides MIQA and reliability engineering leadership and support for the site. This role includes the implementation and sustainability of the MIQA program on site. This position focuses on enhancing equipment reliability through analysis versus first response, day-to-day trouble shooting of failed equipment. This individual will function as a technical resource that will drive process safety and reliability following RAGAGEP's. This individual is expected to have a sound knowledge and the ability to apply engineering principles and tools to identify and prioritize bad actors.
Scope
- Utilize reliability engineering tools to maximize equipment reliability such as: SAP, Meridium, Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Risk Based Inspections (RBI), RCFA, spare parts optimizations, TEEP&OEE, PM Plan optimizations, reliability modeling, equipment history analysis, failure predictions and other reliability tools or techniques as needed to drive reliability solutions.
- Prioritize and drive reliability and maintenance improvements efforts based on the above tools, cost, business objectives, etc.
- Provide coaching to Area Operations and Maintenance technicians of importance of early work identification, proper use of SAP, operating within Standard Operating Conditions (SOCs), general/overall machine health, etc.
- Champion for Design for Reliability and Maintainability and Life Cycle Cost (LCC) analysis, etc. Provide reliability guidance for capital/project front-end loading activities consistent with MIQA needs.
- Provide reliability leadership to technicians and planners for preventive-predictive maintenance programs (lubrication, vibration, thermography, shock-pulse, motor current analysis, etc.)
- Provide technical guidance/coaching for routine maintenance activities, as needed.
- Provide assistance in shutdown planning and coordination, as needed
- Site representative for MIQA element on site. Will participate in corporate MIQA calls for changes and updates to the program.
- Implement Mechanical Integrity and Quality Assurance (MIQA) best practices. Track, document, and communicate mechanical integrity work being performed on PSM Critical Equipment.
- Provides technical, MIQA and reliability support for items such as: vessels, piping, mechanical equipment, rotating equipment, and materials of construction consistent with ASME, API, SAP, DuPont Standards, PSM MIQA requirements, Inspection Briefs, etc.
- Develop and utilize personal network of Corporate and Site resources to ensure adequate technical and reliability support is provided, as needed.
- Analyze OEE data, including auditing data accuracy, to drive reliability improvements. Support Operations OEE. Champion to coordinate improvement of the OEE reporting systems.
- Analyze equipment history, including auditing data accuracy, and follow-up with Technicians.
- Responsible for identifying, coordinating and/or participating in appropriate Changes of Design/Management of Change or Capital Projects to improve reliability.
- Provide support for root cause failure analysis (RCFA, 5-Whys) for critical equipment failures, including physical failure analysis.
- Ensure correct information is entered into the SAP with a unique ID, with a complete description, proper codes, and data fields, etc.
- Provide appropriate metrics and KPIs to area and site as needed such as: Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF), Meant Time to Repair (MTTR), maintenance costs, etc.
- Perform failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) to develop appropriate equipment maintenance plans to include equipment checks and PPM performed by operators and mechanics. Enter the equipment checks and PPM plans into the appropriate system such as SAP, Meridium, etc. Perform PPM effectiveness assessment at appropriate timing. Assess quality of the performed PPM tasks. Leverage standard PPM plans for similar equipment across the region.
- Determine critical spare parts and appropriate stocking levels.
- Work with inspection group to ensure appropriate inspection technologies are being used and assess quality of inspection plans. Revise and Implement test plans to ensure equipment tests are appropriate for application.
- Follow up on inspection findings to improve equipment reliability prior to equipment failure.
Qualifications
This individual must have a good working knowledge of maintenance, reliability, Mechanical Integrity and Quality Assurance (MIQA) best practices. This person must have the organizational capability to work in multiple production areas and processes and be able to communicate well with operators, mechanics, peers, and leadership. They must be able to lead multiple improvement teams in the various production areas and network with appropriate networks such as MIQANET and ME&I and maintain a strong connect to technical organizations such as the Rotating Machinery, E&I, Process Equipment, and M&RS groups.
- BS/MS in mechanical engineering or related engineering field.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Team leadership skills.
- Good written and oral communication skills in English.

- Ability to work as a team member in a respectful manner in a diverse work environment
- Facilities engineering processes, principles, and maintenance & reliability functional excellence capability.
Preferred Skills
- 5+ years or more experience in a chemical/manufacturing plant (or related industry) with a focus on MIQA, reliability, or PSM, preferably in a pharmaceutical or food manufacturing environment
- Understands MIQA policy requirements for Process Safety Management (S21A), statutory & regulatory requirements as applicable, and Recognized And Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEP)
- Understands the Maintenance Work Management Process (WMP) and its impact upon MIQA.
