About the role
We are seeking an experienced and educated farm manager to lead and manage regenerative multi-crop farming operations in Senegal.
The successful candidate will have strong practical experience in diversified food crop cultivation under arid and sandy soil conditions using organic and regenerative farming methods. This role will focus on developing sustainable farming systems that improve soil fertility, moisture retention, crop productivity, and long-term farm resilience.
The candidate must be experienced in implementing organic soil amendment programs using biochar, compost, vermicompost, mulch, and other organic materials to restore degraded soils and support sustainable crop production.
The role will involve managing a mixed-cropping farming system designed around food security, nutrition, and income generation using drought-resistant and climate-resilient crops suitable for arid environments.
Success in this role will be measured by:

Multi-Cropping & Food Crop Management
- Plan, establish, and manage diversified food crop farming systems under arid and semi-arid conditions.
- Develop practical intercropping and crop rotation systems suitable for sandy soils and low rainfall conditions.
- Manage cultivation, irrigation, fertilization, harvesting, and post-harvest handling of multiple crop types.
- Monitor crop health, productivity, and field performance.
Organic & Regenerative Farming
- Implement regenerative agriculture and organic farming practices across all farming operations.
- Develop and manage soil improvement programs using: Biochar, Compost, Vermicompost, Mulching, Organic fertilizers, Cover crops and Other organic soil amendments.
- Improve soil structure, water retention, microbial activity, and nutrient cycling in degraded sandy soils.
- Reduce dependency on synthetic fertilizers and chemicals through sustainable biological approaches.
Soil Restoration & Sustainability
- Develop practical methods to restore low-fertility soils using locally available biomass and organic materials.
- Support composting and vermicomposting operations.
- Introduce sustainable moisture conservation practices suitable for arid conditions.
- Promote biodiversity and ecological farming systems.
Crop Categories & Production Systems
The candidate will manage diversified crop production systems suitable for arid and sandy soil conditions, including
- staple crops such as millet, sorghum, maize, cowpea, and upland rice
- food and income crops such as cassava, sweet potato, groundnut, and Bambara groundnut
- vegetable crops including okra, onion, tomato, eggplant, and chili
with the objective of improving food security, farm income stability, climate resilience, and dietary diversity through sustainable and regenerative farming practices.
Modernized Farming Techniques
- Apply modern farming techniques and appropriate mechanization where suitable.
- Support efficient irrigation and water management systems.
- Utilize farm data collection and monitoring systems to improve operational efficiency.
- Assist in introducing smart farming and precision agriculture practices where applicable.
Team Leadership & Training
- Supervise and train farm workers and field teams.
- Develop SOPs for crop production, composting, soil amendment application, irrigation, and harvesting.
- Promote knowledge transfer and continuous learning within the farm team.
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure compliance with local agricultural and environmental regulations.
- Maintain operational records, crop reports, and production data.
- Prepare regular progress and field performance reports for management.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- Diploma, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Agriculture, Agronomy, Farm Management, Sustainable Agriculture, or related fields.
- Formal agricultural training is highly preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 8–15 years of practical experience in diversified crop farming and regenerative agriculture.
- Proven experience in multi-cropping systems under tropical or arid conditions.
- Experience implementing organic farming and soil restoration programs.
- Practical experience working with sandy soils or low-fertility land is highly preferred.
