Department: Quality Assurance / Compliance

Location: Wadala (with regular factory travel)

Reports To: Director - Technical Services

Experience - 2 to 6 years

Salary: Upto 60k based on experience

Role Overview

The Quality Controller will act as the central quality custodian between clients, vendors, and internal teams. This is a corporate-based role requiring frequent visits to vendor manufacturing facilities to monitor production, ensure compliance with specifications, and maintain international quality standards. The role is critical in a merchant trading/co-manufacturing model, ensuring that outsourced production meets client expectations, regulatory standards, and export compliance requirements (especially US markets).

Key Responsibilities

1. Vendor Quality Oversight (Core Function) Visit vendor manufacturing facilities during production runs Monitor ongoing production for adherence to approved specifications Ensure correct usage of: Raw materials Artwork & color standards Dimensions & structural parameters Act as the on-ground quality representative during critical production stages

2. Pre-Production & Approval Checks Review and validate: Artwork approvals Color references Material specifications Coordinate with design, purchase, and vendors before production initiation Ensure all pre-production approvals are documented and aligned

3. In-Process & Final Inspection Conduct in-line inspections during production at vendor sites Perform final inspection before dispatch: Print quality Shade variation Seal strength/functionality Packing & labelling compliance Approve or hold dispatch based on quality outcomes

4. Compliance & Certification Management Ensure adherence to: BRCGS (Brand Reputation Compliance Global Standards) FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) cGMP / US FDA-related packaging standards (where applicable) Validate vendor certifications and their applicability to projects Ensure documentation readiness for audits and client requirements

5. Export & Regulatory Compliance Ensure products meet: Indian regulatory requirements (GST, labeling norms, etc.) Export market standards (especially US regulations) Support documentation for: COA (Certificate of Analysis) Test reports Compliance declarations Coordinate with logistics and accounts for documentation alignment

6. Testing & Quality Validation Conduct or supervise basic tests: GSM/thickness Seal strength Ink adhesion Visual inspection Coordinate with external labs for advanced testing where required

7. Non-Conformance & Issue Resolution Identify defects and deviations during production Raise NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) Work with vendors on: Root cause analysis Corrective & preventive actions (CAPA) Ensure closure before dispatch or next production cycle

8. Vendor Development & Performance Monitoring Evaluate vendor quality performance across projects Provide feedback and improvement guidelines Support vendor selection based on quality capability

9. Internal Coordination Work closely with: Purchase (vendor selection & material specs) Design (artwork accuracy) Logistics (dispatch readiness) Accounts (documentation alignment) Ensure seamless flow of quality-related information

10. Client Interaction (Limited but Important) Communicate with clients on quality-related matters when required Present quality reports, observations, and corrective actions Handle quality queries professionally and clearly Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Reduction in customer complaints and rejections First-time-right production rate Vendor quality performance score Audit readiness and compliance adherence Timely closure of NCRs

Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree / Diploma in Packaging Technology, Printing, or related field Experience 3–6 years in quality control within: Flexible packaging/cartons/printing industry Export-oriented or compliance-heavy environments preferred

Required Skills Technical Strong understanding of: Printing & packaging processes (flexo, roto, lamination, etc.) Material structures and specifications Knowledge of: BRCGS, FSC certifications US packaging compliance standards Export documentation requirements Functional Vendor management and factory audit experience Strong inspection and problem-solving ability lose attention to detail Communication Ability to clearly communicate quality issues and expectations Basic client-facing confidence for discussions and reporting Good documentation and reporting skills Working Model Corporate office-based role Frequent travel to vendor factories (as per production schedules) High involvement during active production cycles
